Our daughter and son-in-law celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary this weekend, so we kept our two grandsons (ages 4 and 2) while they went for a weekend getaway to Texas.
When figuring out how to keep these two active little boys entertained for 4 days, there was an obvious answer! We headed down to our condo on Sandy Beach in Puerto Penasco, MX and made it in time for sunset! It was a stunner! We hadn't been to the condo since June, so were happy to be back, enjoying those gorgeous Sea of Cortez sunsets!!

Puerto Penasco, or Rocky Point, is also nicknamed "Arizona's Beach" because of its close proximity to the state. We live in north-central Arizona, and it's a 5 1/2 hour drive from doorstep to beachfront. For people in the Phoenix-metro area, it's about 3 1/2 hours, with a border crossing at Lukeville AZ/Sonoyta MX.
Scott and I started coming down to Rocky Point in 1990, as spring-breakers from Northern AZ University. Back then, there were no condos on Sandy Beach...just tent camping college kids! Condo construction began around 1994, and now Sandy Beach has a diverse array of condo accommodations to choose from.
We partnered with some dear friends and purchased our 3-bedroom, 2-bath condo in summer, 2021, fulfilling a dream we'd had for 30+ years! When none of us are using it, we make the condo available as a beachfront vacation rental.
We'll share lots more information about Rocky Point in future blogs...this trip was all about the kiddos! We even picked up Scott's mom, Memaw, on the way, so she could get some beach time too! 3 adults, 2 kids and 1 dog ... made for happy memories on the beach!

Three nights doesn't feel long enough, but that's all we had this time. Ronan, the 4-year old, really found his sea legs on this trip. He was romping in the waves with other kids, and even rebounded quickly when he got rolled by a few big waves! We're so happy to watch these boys grow up loving this beach like we do! We'll surely have lots of great family memories here!

By the way, if you are ever interested in more information on the condo (Sonoran Sea Resort, #501E), you can see pictures and the availability calendar on the Casago website. You can book through that site, or contact me directly for some savings!
Happy Anniversary to Bailey and Matt...now come home! We are exhausted! 🤣
