The afternoon of our Day 7 was spent on a Foodie Tour with three other US couples, and our lovely Italian Guide, Karin!
No museums, no churches. This tour is all about food and wine. We visited the Mercado Centrale Firenzi first, which was filled with culinary artisans!

In addition to the Central Market, we went to individual, family owned shops, all chosen for their historic & culinary importance. We learned so much about Italian Cuisine, all while having fun with a great group of people and savoring each bite.

We tasted breads, cheeses, salumi, crostini, wine, sweets, balsamic vinegars, olive oils and seasonal specialties. And, of course, ended with some delicious Gelato (and Dan ate non-vanilla Gelato)!

We got a recommendation from Karin on a good, local Birrieria (a beer hall) called Art 17. It was a bit of a walk after a long day, but we were so glad to go. Located out of the tourist zone, this local establishment had great beer (Scott was ready for some after all the wine), and a great local vibe! Our new friends Ollie and Kim from the Foodie Tour joined us there for a few drinks.

It was a long day, but we had so much to reflect on as we walked back to our hotel, past the magnificent Duomo, pondering life back in the 14th century!
